Huntsman Cancer
Institute Department of Oncological Sciences

GENETIC EPIDEMIOLOGIST:
The Cancer Control and Population Sciences Program of Huntsman Cancer Institute and the Department of Oncological Sciences in the School of Medicine invite applications for a genetic epidemiologist with an interest in cancer. The tenure-track faculty position can be at the assistant professor level, or higher. The selected candidate will establish an independent, extramurally-funded research program and also contribute to the educational mission of the University. The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in epidemiology, population or statistical genetics, or a biologically-related discipline with additional training or post-doctoral experience in genetic epidemiology. The University has a unique and central genetic epidemiologic resource, the Utah Population Database, which contains extensive Utah genealogy records linked to the Utah SEER Cancer Registry, as well as health records from the University of Utah Hospital and links to statewide cancer and other health record data bases. The University’s exceptional genomics resources (next-generation DNA sequencing and multiple array-based platforms), as well as a strong research informatics core, will enable gene/mutation discovery and analysis for lab-based projects. At the Huntsman Cancer Institute, an NCI-designated cancer center, there are substantial opportunities for multidisciplinary collaborations in a highly collegial environment with potential for growth.
