Research Description:

My primary research interest is to determine the genetic etiology of colon cancer. Research objectives are to characterize the prevalence of known genetic factors in a high-risk population (under 50 or two 1^st degree relatives), and to identify novel colon cancer susceptibility genes, and genetic modifiers by linkage analysis using large families and sibling pairs with colon cancer. I work with the Pedigree and Population Resource group, to identify at-risk families, the High-Risk Cancer Clinics, to recruit family members into research, and the Department of Human Genetics to identify cancer susceptibility genes.
